Murray’s Landscape Supplies

Dave Murray from Murray’s Landscape Supplies operates a 2010 model Kenworth 19 metre B-double combination with a Grant engineered high capacity trailer fitted with Loadman scales.

This is the second vehicle Dave has owned with Loadman scales, Dave’s previous vehicle: a Kenworth truck and 4 axle dog trailer tipper, was fitted with Loadman scales in 2006.

Dave’s decision to purchase
on-board scales was mainly due to the location of loading. Without access to a weighbridge near the site and the need to pass through an RTA checking station with every load, it was imperative that all loads were within legal limits.

“After a number of overload breaches I needed to find a solution. The Loadman scales were brilliant. In 5 years we were able to load to maximum weight for every load.”

The Loadman scales fitted to Dave’s truck and dog provided GCM, truck and trailer weights as well as individual axle group weights. Air transducers were fitted to the drive and trailer axle groups, with steer axle weight provided by a hydraulic transducer in the truck hoist.

‘When I decided to update to a new combination which we intended to operate under a higher mass scheme, the decision to fit scales was obvious.”

The Loadman scale system installed to the B-double was also fitted with an on-board printer to assist with mass management requirements.

“Having the printer which prints out our GCM and axle group weights with date and time has made record keeping for mass management a breeze.”

The Loadman scale system fitted to the Kenworth also has the feature of a portable hand-held display (PDA) which operates with Bluetooth

communication from the truck meter.

"As I load the vehicle myself at some locations, being able to read the axle group weights from the loader means maximum payload every time.”
